About Rafi.
His unique Baseball Journey
Vazquez's journey to professional baseball is quite unique. He started as both a pitcher and a position player, eventually focusing on first base and designated hitting during his college years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After not being drafted as a hitter, he took a brief hiatus from baseball in 2021. However, he chose to reinvent himself as a pitcher. Early Career
Before turning professional, Vazquez was a standout at Bishop O'Connell High School and committed to play at Coastal Carolina University after an impressive high school pitching career. His story exemplifies perseverance—transitioning from an undrafted college hitter who retired from baseball to becoming one of the best relief pitchers in independent professional baseball.
